After weeks of fixing, cleaning, assembling, and possibly other things, the seat portion of Project: SIMULATOR is completed!

Almost.

What I need to do is put some furniture pads underneath and THEN I will be finished. Aah, clickbait.

Some pics.

Integrated PSU to supply power to the seats controls.

Looking good. At some point, you totally need to get Assetto Corsa for the PC (and a PC, if you don’t have one already). It’s a much better sim than Forza (though I will say that Forza 6 is much closer to a sim racer than an arcade racer).

I have a PC. I might need to get AC eventually.

It’s really fun after the recent update. There’s nothing better than sliding around the ‘Ring in a Fiat 500 Abarth getting lift-off oversteer on every corner.

I can do that in Forza 6!

But can you lap the ring in a Porsche GT3 RS? Because AC has a mod for that. They also have some amazing formula cars modded in -

Are cars freely available as mods? Or are new cars/tracks always paid DLC?

I used to play the heck out of Forza 4 on my Xbox 360 and haven't really gotten into a racing game since (I did play Grid Autosport and Dirt 3 on PC for a while, but not nearly as much as Forza 4). I'm also trying to see if my Xbox 360 steering wheel can connect to my PC in some way as well...

They have 2 mod packs with a bunch of official cars, but community mods are free. Those two I linked to are completely free, and there are some really good tracks available, too. The official paid tracks are laser scanned, so they are slightly better simulated than the mod tracks.

I’ve had a Miata seat just chilling in my basement for years, waiting for me to build a sim rig. Props to you for finding the motivation.

Nice job! I must say, how did you get the power seats to work?

And that looks like a standard ATX PSU, is that correct? Also which Acura is that from?

Kinja'd!!! TheHondaBro > Nibby

Kinja'd!!!0

I got a cheap ATX power supply and wired it to the corresponding ground, 5v, and 12v wires on the seat. The seat is from a 3.2 TL Type-S.

Awesome. I thought it was from a 2nd-gen TL. I made this some 3 or 4 years back.

I still use it daily. I have another seat from a late 90s Corolla just sitting in my basement, but I need a welding machine to fix it up.

Yeah I’m definitely gonna have to make one of those. Problem is I just got a really nice new office chair, so it’d just have to be a shop chair.

If you’re in NY or near NY, I can give you the Corolla chair.

I’m nowhere near NY lol. I think I’m the furthest away from NY in the contiguous US.
